About
Plus Size Halloween Costume
I created this website because I love Halloween costumes, but as a plus size woman, I’ve found out the hard way that just like finding plus size clothing in general, its a lot more work to find the right Halloween costume for plus size people. You aren’t likely to find many choices if there is a local Halloween costume store near you, and if there isn’t, you are forced to shop online for your Halloween costume.
The good news is, there are lots of plus size Halloween costumes available online, and plus size adult costumes can be purchased on the internet for reasonable prices. The bad news is, the plus size costumes aren’t consolidated in a single place, there are a lot of costume sellers out there (and the number of plus size costumes they each have available varies widely), and when they do have them, they tend to lump them all in a single “plus size costume” category, where its harder to search for the kind of costume you want. You also need to shop early, because the vendors stock fewer Halloween costumes for plus size customers, and the designs most in demand may sell out early. Plus I’ve learned from personal experience in creating this blog that its also more work to do a price comparison on the Halloween costume you are interested in: prices can vary by quite a bit.
So I created this website to provide a central location dedicated to plus size adult costumes, and only plus size costumes, where you can get a really good idea of what Halloween costumes are out there, what they cost, and where you can get them. I will include a photo for each costume, as much information as I can get about it, pricing information (prices can change suddenly and often, it will be impossible for me to update all of them constantly, so please be sure and check the vendor website prices before purchasing), and as many costume stores as I can find that stock each costume so you have the best possible choice, and in case a particular vendor runs out of stock.
In light of the recent FTC decision, as of December 1, 2009, bloggers will now be required to disclose any financial compensation or gifts in kind they receive in exchange for positive reviews. I’m not reviewing the halloween costumes, or the vendors for that matter, just providing pictures, information and pricing comparisons regarding them, but I just wanted to let you know nobody is sponsoring this website, paying me to review anything, or providing me with a closet full of free plus size halloween costumes. Anything and everything I post on this blog is posted here of my own free will, at my own instigation, under my own impetus and control, nobody and no business exercises what you might call “editorial control” except me. The opinions expressed are genuinely my own, and I am not receiving any gifts in kind.
Tips for Using This Plus Size Costume Website
-
Shop early.
I have yet to see in regular department stores Halloween costumes in “real” sizes for “real” people.
The season is short, so they seem to provide the tiny
petite sizes only for everything. Either that, or most
costumes anyway aren’t the sizes at all that they say they are. The packaged cheaper costumes seem to be made for children, though they say adult. At least this has been my experience when I used to buy them.
This should be a valuable resource for realistic sizing.

Thank you Jane, I hope lots of people find this website useful, especially once I have it closer to finished (I know I still have LOTS of work to do on it, its still very much a work in progress, and there’s many more things I want to do to improve the site.)
I agree with you, plus sizes seem to get short shrift in brick and mortar stores, not just in terms of costumes, but clothing in general. Thank goodness for the internet!
But if you (or anyone else) has any ideas on how I can improve the website, please leave a comment and tell me about it. I really want to make this site a great resource for plus size costume shoppers!
